QS World University Rankings 2024: How did the Canadian schools rank?

The 2024 QS World University Rankings were just released, ranking universities all over the world using metrics such as faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, employer reputation and academic reputation. This year’s ranking also included new metrics measuring sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network.

This year, the top 10 Canadian universities ranked as follows:

 21. University of Toronto

30. McGill University

34. University of British Columbia

111. University of Alberta

112. University of Waterloo

114. Western University

141. Université de Montréal

182. University of Calgary

189. McMaster University

203. University of Ottawa

Remember, while rankings can be a great way to get a sense of which schools are excelling in certain areas, there is more to school selection than just its position on a list. When considering what school might be a good fit for you, make sure you are considering factors that are important to YOU, including program quality and specialization, size of campus, location, research opportunities and resources, co-op and other experiential learning opportunities, financial considerations, and career opportunities.
