Up first… high school students! In this last week of summer vacation, I’m sure you the last thing you want to do is think about the upcoming school year, but here are some steps you can take now to ensure a smooth transition as you start your new school year:

  1. Organize Your Supplies: Make a list of essential school supplies and materials you will need and then make sure you get all of them. Organize your backpack and supplies in advance so you are ready to go on the first day of school.

  2. Prepare Your Tools and Workspace: Set up a clutter-free, organized study area at home. Ensure you have all the necessary supplies like notebooks and pens and that you have a quiet place to concentrate. Ensure your computer is working well and check that your computer, software and any apps you use are up-to-date.

  3. Refresh Your Knowledge: Review key concepts from last year’s subjects, especially in areas like math. This will help you transition smoothly into new material.

  4. Set a Morning Routine: Establish a morning routine that will allow you start your day on a positive note. Getting adequate sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and having some personal time to mentally prepare for your day can make a significant difference.

  5. Plan Your Meals and Snacks: Plan nutritious meals and snacks for your school days. Eating well will support your energy levels and allow you to focus better at school.

  6. Connect With Friends: Reach out to friends and classmates to catch up and share excitement about the upcoming year. Social connections can help make the transition back into school easier and more enjoyable.

  7. Enjoy Your Last Days of Summer: While preparing is important, don’t forget to enjoy the last days of your summer break! Create fun memories with family and friends and recharge for the year ahead.
